Hi. We have problem with our Terminalserver(win 2008 std) that throws a error in the System event log:
Source:Kernel-General
EventID:6
errormessage:An I/O operation initiated by the Registry failed unrecoverably. The Registry could not flush hive (file): '\SystemRoot\System32\Config\DEFAULT'.
Or the file are in the error message is:'\??\C:\Users\<username>\ntuser.dat'.
It does this on the same time(about a minute apart) for 24 times (more or less) (different files/users) and the users profile are damaged. Not all the users currently logged on get's it.
- if the user logs out and on again rapidly they can't log on because the Terminalserver can't load the profile (does not have the exact message at the moment but something like that)
- If the user waits a moment it will first log on with a temporary (empty) profile
- If the user waits a little longer it will log on to it's own profile but it's empty. After a while the entire profile loads for the user maybe a little faster if the user logs on and off.
- And if they wait a long time (15-60min) they will get theire profile fully)
If I reboot the server after the errormessages then everything works fine until the next errormessage problem. (And it's our only Terminalserver so rebooting is not an option during the day)
We have about 30-40 users at the same time on the Terminalserver. If you keep logged in all day you want get a problem. (I reboot at night)
I search the Internet for some tips but the only thing I found was http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms838132.aspx that are somewhat correct but it's not an isolated event it comes everyday.
The Server is a HP Proliant 380DL With Raid 1 discs (15K) with 10GB RAM.
Thanks for your assistance.
