RDP Client eats shortcut keys that my application uses

I am using the Remote Desktop Connection client in Windows 7 Ultimate. The Shell and Control versions are both 6.1.7600.

I am connecting to a remote machine where I would like to map Ctrl+Alt+Left Arrow and Ctrl+Alt+Right Arrow to commands I use in a popular application (Visual Studio 2010). However, the RD Client is eating these keystrokes and not passing them to the remote computer.

I realize that these key combinations have been made available for use within an ActiveX host. However, since I'm using the default client, it seems that these should be passed to the remote computer.

Is there any way to have the default RD Client not hijack these keystrokes?
