Thin Client Server Farm Printing Issues

Hello Everyone,

I have recently implemented a server farm with roaming profiles to be used by WYSE thin client boxes. There are 4 servers that are Windows 2008 R2 64-bit standard, and one that is enterprise.

The issue I am dealing with is that network printers are not functioning properly. Depending on which server a user logs into the printers installed may not show up in their Devices and Printers. If they try to install these printers from the print server they get an error message saying the printer is unavailible error code 0x00000bcb. This error code is not always the same but it is the only one I have recorded. The same user can log into another server in the farm and print from this printer with no issues. There are also times when the user will log in and see the printer but when they try to use it the error will show up.

The printers are installed on a print server is also Windows 2008 R2 64-bit standard. They are installed using the HP universal printing pcl 6 driver.

I have been able to use a work around of deleting the local user profile (I have enabled deleting of cached local copies of profiles, so deleting is done by simply having the user log out), copying there data, deleting there roaming profile, and having them log back in (copying only there desktop icons, facorites and documents back to the profile), this will go through the first time log in instalation steps, but will usually allow me to install the printer without any issues. This work around is not working any more and I have run out of ideas as to why printing is not working.

Originally this work around made me beleive that the printers installed on the profiles had somehow gotten corrupt. But this is just a shot in the dark.

Any help would be greatly appriciated.
