Web Browsing intermittently slow/not responding

Hi,

We've got very intermittent problems on several servers - the only common factor is that they are all deplyoed as either Remote Desktop Terminal or Citrix servers.

The following happens..

  • IE won't load any webpages from port 80

OR

  • Internet browsing in IE is very slow - as in 30 minutes to reach a page.
  • Web browsing to HTTPS is either fine or slow
  • Browsing to sites from other web browsing often displays the same problem - but in some cases can load some websites on port 80, and can mostly connect to websites on other ports.
  • We can resolve names through our DNS
  • We can ping IP addresses
  • Other servers on the same network don't have the issue

We have resolved this issue previously by a combination of any of the following..

  • Restarting the server
  • Uninstalling Adobe Flash
  • Uninstalling Adobe Flash+Restarting Server

This has happened at least 20 times over a 6-12 month period.

One most recent scenario was..

Day 1- 1 terminal server out of 12 on the same domain displayed these symptoms.

Day 1 (a it later) - 1 citrix server out of 4 on the same domain, separate from the 1st domain/environment displayed these symptoms

Day 2 - 1 terminal server on a completely separate domain from the first 2 displayed these symptoms

Day 4 - 1 citrix server on a completely separate domain than the first 3 displayed these symptoms

Now it's got to the point where we can just just restart terminal servers when this happens and need to know exactly what's causing it.
