Hello,
I have created a VDI infrastructure on Windows Server 2012. We publish remote desktops over the Internet via Remote Desktop Web Services. We do not publish any RemoteApp programs. When a user logs in, they click on the Desktop Group icon (in this case named Students) on the RemoteApp and Desktops tab. This opens the VM assigned to the user via the RDP ActiveX control.
The problem I have is that the RDP session is opened in FULL SCREEN mode, whereas I want to specify 1024x768 resolution. I cannot seem to find a way to change this and the user is unable to change it via the Windows Control Panel, as it says display resolution cannot be changed via a remote session.
How can I change the resolution?
Thanks!
Hi
I recently have setup Server 2012 Essentials. The version I got is from the Windows download website - the evaluation version for 180 days. I have not purchased the license as yet, because I wanted to try and test everything first.
Currently this has been setup as a Domain controller.
The server's purpose is to run 2 business applications directly on the server, the way this will be done is via RDP.
I can RDP to the server ok and login.
I have installed the printer drivers on Server 2012, and when I RDP into the server, my local printers come up as redirected.
However, when I try to print, The job gets stuck in the spooler - with Error Printing as the error message.
So far I have tried the following:
1) Windows 8 - 64bit connecting in, same issue (Printer: Samsung SCX-4521F)
2) Windows 7 - 64 bit and 32 bit - same issue (Printer: Samsung SCX-4521F)
3) Windows 7 - Different Printer Fuji Xerox M205 fw - same issue
4) Windows 7 - HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909g - wireless printer (Works) (Different PC at another location)
5) Windows 7 - HP Photosmart C7200 - wireless printer (Works) (Different PC at another location)
I have searched everywhere for a solution and I am not getting anywhere. I have tried installing the RDS roles, however as this is a DC, this will not work.
I have installed the print server role to help manage the print drivers and to see if this would make a difference..
I have followed these guides to see if I can use Easyprint... as this is a DC, I cant get this to work.

http://blogs.msdn.com/b/rds/archive/2009/09/28/using-remote-desktop-easy-print-in-windows-7-and-windows-server-2008-r2.aspx?PageIndex=2
I have modified the Group Policies to ensure they Easy Print is disabled.
I have given full rights to the C:\Windows\System32\Spool folder.
I have installed the printer locally on the server and tried to print - this works fine.
Is this a driver issue ? Server 2012 bug? what is it ?
As per above, the only printers I can print to over RDP are HP wireless printers...Any assistance would be great... this is really doing my head in....

I want to know that what is the solution for this ...?

Hi,
I have 4 static ip from my isp and I have configure one static ip in my router, with that single ip every computer connected to internet, and I am using netgear n150 wireless router even my server also get internet from that router.
Now my issue is, I want to log in into that server from my home using internet.
Could you please help me in this regard.

I've hit a problem with a client today and just wondered if anyone knew of a way around this before we log it with PSS.
Basically we have a client who are exclusively still on XP SP3 machines and are connecting to an RDS 2008 SP1 server.
The issue being all of their printers are IPP / internet printers connected in the client and none of these are working.
With a vanilla client they receive the TsWpfWrp crash when printing, and after TsWpfWrp is updated via KB946411 & KB954744 we see no output whatsoever.
I did further deep investigations and found that it appears that TsWpfWrp cannot handle IPP printers.
For example I have an IPP printer mapped which Windows adds to the registry using the following Name value "\\http://10.10.10.10/printer"
When you do a print via EasyPrint to the IPP printer it then results in the following command being run:
tswpfwrp ''\\http://10.10.10.10/printer'' ''test.xps''
Printer :\\http://10.10.10.10\printer
File :test.xps
Error printing:System.Printing.PrintServerException: An exception occurred while creating the PrintServer object. Win32 error: The printer name is invalid.
at System.Printing.PrintServer.Initialize(String path, String[] propertiesFilter, PrinterDefaults printerDefaults)
at System.Printing.PrintServer..ctor(String path)
at TsWpfWrapperNameSpace.TsWpfWrapper.GetPrintQueue(String PrinterFullName)
at TsWpfWrapperNameSpace.TsWpfWrapper.PrintXPSDocument(String printQueueName, String xpsFileName)
at TsWpfWrapperNameSpace.TsWpfWrapper.Main(String[] args)
The printer itself is hosted on a Windows 2003 server with IIS6 and Internet Printing enabled.
If I run the TsWpfWrp command with a standard UNC printer path it works as expected, ie:
tswpfwrp ''\\10.10.10.10\printer'' ''test.xps''
Printer :\\10.10.10.10\printer
File :test.xps
JobQueue was empty, not waiting for printing.
Are there any known workarounds for getting IPP printing working please?
Thanks in advance
Hi guys!
Something really strange is happening right now, as our RDweb can't be accessed by one server. I'll explain our setup first, so you guys can follow.
We have three RDS servers (TSA, TSB and TSC for example) and one RemoteApp server (TSAPP for example). TSA and TSC can access the RDweb website of TSAPP, but TSB can't and always gets the "HTTP 404 NOT FOUND" error. I did every stap the same as on the other two RDS server, but TSB just can't access it. And yes, I am using httpS to connect to the RDweb.
Someone got an idea? This one is really giving me headaches >.<
Thanks!

2. "User Accounts" -> "Advanced" Tab -> "Local Users and Groups" dialog
Why I can't add domain local groups via Remote Tab and from Local Users and Groups yes ?

Hello,
we're operating a RD-Farm w/ Server 2008 R2. The print server is running 2008 R2 and all printers are shared.
I'm searching for a way to automatically supply our RD-Servers w/ suitable drivers for our printers so that the Users can connect printers w/out any interaction.
The script prndrvr.vbs in %windir%\System32\Printing_Admin_Scripts\de-DE installs the drivers successfully. However, if a User attempts to connect to a shared printer it ask for a driver installation for which the User has insufficient rights.
If I install the shared printer as Administrator and delete the Printer-Object afterwards, so that the drivers remain on the RD-Host the Users can connect the printer w/out any problems.
I compared the files in %windir%\system32/spool and registry settings HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\ of both installations but couldn't find differences.
Does anyone know how to deploy printer drivers to RD-Hosts?
Including the drivers in the VM-Template is the last option because of lots of manual work to update drivers or deploy drivers for new printers.
Thanks in advance.

Howdy,
We've got a strange error, we are currently in development mode for rolling out RDS to our users through the remote apps using thin clients authenticated with the network and an IE 9 browser on the thin client.
Everything was going great until we tried to two interneal web applications running through a RemoteApp, Internet Explorer window. For some reason it won't load the ActiveX controls or even prompt the user - Strangly if we use the RDS browser to RDP to the actual box the applications all work OK with no errors or prompts.
We've had a play with ActiveX Installer and set all the GPO objects, we've even compared the IE settings through RDP with the IE settings through RDS and they are the same. We've also made sure we've set through GPO the options for allowing unsigned ActiveX etc..
It's Windows 2008 R2 with RDS with IE9
Any ideas where we can start as this is driving us bonkers!

Hi,
I'm sure this must have come up before.. I've setup Single Sign on to my RDS Server through RDWeb Access.
I can pass through OK after logging on and my apps all load up OK with just the need for one login.
The problem I have is protecting the applications and 'locking' the terminal. Now I've used a bit of VB script that will 'lock' the remote session (Similar to CTRL - ALT - END) but if the user leaves their IE window open and clicks a new application, SSO kicks in and unlocks the screen.
I did have the terminals setup to login to the domain at first so a local CTRL-ALT-DELETE would protect their applications and they need their domain info to unlock, but i'm now trying a non domain terminal and have come up against this protection issue - The terminal auto-logons on with a default account so locking that terminal isn't an option!
The only way I can think of at the mo is to teach the users to 'lock' the workstation using my app and then close the IE window. When they return they will need to reload up the IE window and login as before?
Cheers in advance
Rob
My setup is this:
Windows 7 x64 SP1 client
Windows Server 2012 with RDWA, RDGW roles
Windows Server 2012 with RDCB role
Windows Server 2012 with RDSH role
Client is separated from the servers by a firewall, TCP 443 & UDP 3391 are permitted to the RDWA/RDGW server.
Client is able to connect to the RDSH via RDGW (RDGW auth using smartcard, RDSH auth using AD user/pass).
It makes no difference if I launch a RemoteApp or use mstsc.exe & set up the RDGW settings manually - when I log off the remote session the window goes black but does not disappear.
If I click the X button twice the window disappears, but:
- the session remains on the RDSH in the disconnected state
- the mstsc.exe process is still running (with 3 threads constantly using a trickle of CPU time)
- until the mstsc.exe process is killed, I can no longer connect from the client to the same collection/RDSH
If I skip the RDGW and connect directly to the RDSH (opening up TCP 3389 to test), authenticating using the user/pass, I donot get the problem.
Is this a known issue with RDGW connections on WS2012?
Hi,
If i am using RDP app from windows store, do i have to be on same WiFi network to RDP into my windows 7 PC ?
Thanks in advance.
Thank you -Mushtaq
I have Windows Server 2012 Remote Desktop services platform. I have connection broker and session host roles are running on different servers. I am trying to remove an session host server and cannot do it using Server Manager or Power shell command.
On Server manager, I am trying to remove the session host server at collections/Host Servers. I get this message:
Could not remove the configuration.
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
On Powershell I get this messge.
PS C:\Windows\system32> Remove-RDServer -Server hq-rdsserver -Role RDS-RD-SERVER -Force
Remove-RDServer : The servers are not joined to the deployment as RD Session Host server.

Hi everyone.
Is there a way to have a single server 2012 machine which will allow for multiple remote connections (Apx 8 or so)?
I've been told that the only way to allow more than 2 concurrent RD connections I will need to have this machine be part of a domain and thus requiring an additional server as a DC. I've also been told that a DC itself can't be serving as a remote desktop server.
The bottom line - do I need t servers in order to have remote desktops connecting in????
thanks!
We have a Windows 7 client that logs in to our Server2008 running Terminal Services.
When it logs in via a VPN tunnel using RDP 6.1 the local printer is redirected.
When it logs in via RWW using IE10 the local printer is not redirected and the System event log on the Server2008 shows an ID 1111 error (driver required for printer is unknown).
A different computer also running Windows 7 and IE10 with the same printer installed gets its local printer redirected with no problem via RWW. In both cases the check box for printers is checked when logging in and firewalls are turned off. Both computers are side-by-side at my location for testing (same ISP).
I have read many posts in many forums and cannot find the answer to this problem. It seems to me more like a workstation problem than something wrong with our server, but I need help to further trouble-shoot this.
Thanks, I'm desperate.
When creating RDS Quick Deploy, then trying to add a collection, I get an error:
Unable to configure RD Session Host Server <Server Name>. Invalid operation.
I've set every property I know, have a valid Licensed server, a wildcard Certificate installed properly, everything looks good. I've been three (3) days on this.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
