Hello,
RDMS user interface on WINDOWS 2016 :
How to install it, without any Active Directory ?
Regards,
This issue occurs with Windows 10 1809 Client RemoteApp -> Windows server 2012 R1 Session Host
- Open a RemoteApp
- Within this app, you open another Window (Popups or similiar)
- Close the popup
- now the originally opened RemoteApp Window wont give up focus, that means I cant get other local windows in the foreground. I have to manually close or minimize the RemoteApp window. (This doesnt happen with all popups though)
I recorded a gif here: https://imgur.com/ncrREJY
You can reproduze this every time, by publishing Adobe Reader DC as a RemoteApp -> after opening the RemoteApp on a W10 1809 client, search for updates -> close the Update Popup -> now the Adobe Reader DC RemoteApp window wont give up focus, I have to close it manually
I asked other people and everyone can reproduze it.
I know not a lot of users are still on server 2012 R1 but maybe Microsoft will still do something about it
I have a two computers with Win10 pro update 1089 installed - a desktop (ethernet) and a laptop (wireless). I RDP from the laptop to the desktop when I need the faster internet connection. Recently, when I logged in to my laptop; realplayer update opened, i OK'ed, slimware driverupdate updated drivers for: Intel graphics driver; intel USB eXtensible host controller; realtek high definition audio driver; synaptics clickpad driver. now when i RDP to my other computer I mostly get just a black screen; sometimes I get a clear screen that does not respond to my mouse; sometimes I get a session with very blurry screen.
I uninstalled realPlayer and Slimware, then did a system restore (then Windows updates back to 1809), but I still have the problem -- my drivers did not change. There are no restore points prior to the slimware update/install/malware. Also, windows defrag now takes more than 12 hours to run (15 passes).
Hello,
I have several Server 2016 VMs and AD users (customers) connect with RDS and run an Access DB with Remote App. If a tech savvy user with dubious intentions finds his way to the desktop, he can navigate to the folder the DB is in and copy or delete the files.
Is there a way to prevent copying or deleting files but still let use of the DB?
Thanks
As per the title, I'm using a windows server 2016 as a host for relaying an audio stream. Everything works perfectly when an RDP session is active (and the sound is playing on remote device), however it immediately stops after disconnecting from RDP.
My guess is some of the audio services is stopped after RDP is killed, but I can't figure out a way to overcome this :(
Hi.
I've migrated a Server 2008 R2 (Hyper-V VM) to Server 2016.
After that, I've noticed Remote Desktop Services (termsvcs) uses 20-30% CPU.
I've other Server 2016 VM's and CPU usage is less than 1%.
How can resolve it?
Thanks.
Hello,
I have setup user profile disks and was wondering if there is any way to set this up so every new user that connects to the RDP server for the first time and gets a new profile created gets certain settings such as:
Blue desktop
Desktop icons
Taskbar and folder settings
EI settings
Please let me know if this can be archived and how?
Thank you. Karel Grulich, MCSE, SBS
Devices and Printers control panel does not list the printers. Users cannot print. When go to Devices and Printers, no printer list and taking sometimes to load but when it finished there is no printers anyway.
Hi there,
A client I am working with has continual disconnect issues with RDS whenever users watch youtube videos.
Nearly all sessions result in a disconnect within 5 minutes of watching videos.
This is an azure deployed RDS solution housed on Server 2016.
Having stumbled on a post previously where users suffering similar issues we tried disabling the following GPO setting
Windows Components/Remote Desktop Services/Remote Desktop Session Host/Remote Session Environment
Use advanced RemoteFX graphics for RemoteApp - Disabled
Does anyone have any other pointers or experience they can share?
Hello,
What is the TSE Profile (local only) folder named with "xxxxx.V6" ?
It's about".V6" .
How to delete them ?
Regards,
Hello,
If I compare with my W2K8 servers, Inside the Windows 2016, the MMC console dedicated fort Remote Desktop Services are missing, except for the TSE Licences.
Il already install and add rules about Remote Desktop Services (2 of 6).
And the TSE access are good.
How to download/install or declare them inside the Administrative Tools ?
Regards
Hello all, I just, today, upgraded one of our Dell Server 2008 r2's to Server 2012 r2 and rebooted for updates and final install. And I did all of this over Remote Desktop. Once all of the updates were done, I was unable to log back in via Remote Desktop. So I physically walked next door and logged in just fine. It shows that RD is checked but I am still unable to access the server from my desktop in my office. I have admin rights and I was found almost immediately when I added my self to the server. The server sees all of the other connected groups locally and otherwise. The Subnet mask and IP's are static and correct.
When, from my desktop, I click on connect to the server it asks me for my credentials, it remembers my log-on ID, but then gives me the error; "An authentication error has occurred. The function requested is no supported."
Also, I have no power options to restart the machine. I went into gpedit.msc and put the rule to disabled to give myself access to the restart and power off options but it does not take. ie: I still have to shut down/restart the server via a cmd line.
The upgrade was pretty quick and I had no extraneous errors or anything. Any ideas I can try?
Thank you in advance for your assistance.
Respectfully,
WME
Hi,
Is there any way - within a RDS 2016 environment, to enable pass-through credentials from RD Web to RD Gateway, so as to avoid 3 levels of authentication when using the "Connect to a remote PC" option?
The 3 levels of authentication are:
RD Web --> RD Gateway (specified by DefaultTSGateway within IIS) --> Server Login
I know there's a way of combining the RD Gateway/Server Login credentials, as per the following thread:
but, as we have multiple domains (i.e. the RD Gateway credentials may not be the same as the Server Login credentials), what I'd really like to do is to be able to pass-through the credentials from RD Web --> RD Gateway, and still receive credentials for the server login. Is this possible?
Many thanks.
Hi. We have a new WS2016 RDS deployment (VMs on Hyper-V):
- 2x WS2016 RDGW in NLB
- 2x RDCB in HA configuration
- couple RDSH servers
The problem is that in 30-50% of the connection attempts via these gateways, the connection is stuck at the "Configuring remote session" message. The connection is never successfully estabilished when this happens and it is closed without any error couple minutes later. When you try again (or just immediatelly cancel the connection and reconnect), the connection may or may not go through.
When this problem happens, I can see there's single HTTP connection on the RDGW that accepted the connection with 0 bytes transferred in either direction. There are no related errors at this time.
Can anyone help? Btw. this problem also happens when connecting to a different single-host RDS deployment through these gateways.
I suspected the problem might be in the NLB, but removing either of the gateways from the NLB configuration (and from RDS farm) doesn't help, the issue is still there.
Rebooting the gateways helps for a short while (hours), but then the issue is back.
There are some other errors on the gateways, but these don't correlate to the connection attempts (event 210, source terminalservices-gateway: "Http transport: IN channel could not find a corresponding OUT channel" with no other details).
RDP clients are various ... W8.1, W10, Mac...

HI,
I created a RDWeb access in Windows Server 2012 R2 and able to reach to the page where it prompts for the reset of the password. However, it keeps saying, "The user name or password that you entered is not valid. Try typing it again". Below steps
tried:
1. Removed the password complexity from the DC to ease the password, still the same error.
2. Tried resetting the configuration in "C:\Windows\Web\RDWeb\Pages\en-US\login.aspx" file and the "C:\Windows\Web\RDWeb\Pages\en-US\password.aspx" file (hard coded user name).
3. Tried hard coding the domain name as well. Still the same error.
4. Disabled NLA, reduced the MinimumEncryptionLevel in registry.
Attached is the error message. I checked almost all the articles in google and still unable to find a solution. Please help.
Regards,
Saura
I've been having this error for while now, I connect to one of the servers and it starts doing its thing apparently going through every step just fine but then I get this Access is denied message:
Normally I wouldn't bother trying to fix it because I don't have the time nor the resources to throw at it, I just snapshot the machine back to a working state, files will are centralized in non-Microsoft redundant servers, they are safe. However, when I tried snapshotting back this VM way back to the beginning of the month the error was still there. I figured, it's a domain issue then, so I took it out of the domain and it still wouldn't let me in.
I connected to the machine's console (via Fusion, it's hosted on ESXi) and checked the log.
There was nothing descriptive except for a "reason code 12" which I knew meant basically nothing because I had looked for it before when this started happening, so I went deeper since my snapshot safety is over I need to know how's it fixed.
Most of the RDS related branches in the tree were empty but in Microsoft/Windows/RemoteDesktopServices-RdpCoreTS/Operational I found some data, actually a ton, 50+ events per connection attemp. They all occur in the same second. I started following the messages, the one where everything fails is:
Disconnect trace:CUMRDPConnection Disconnect trace:'calling spGfxPlugin->PreDisconnect()' in CUMRDPConnection::PreDisconnect at 4477 err=[0xc], Error code:0xC
Here's a table of the logs I made copying them one by one, I tried adding it here but exceeded the message length: http://fetch.vitanetworks.link/stationary/technet/eventlogerror.pdf it's a PDF, so it should show right in the browser.
Using the system with another account reveals the user that failed to log in, tho whom access was denied, is somehowstill logged in. I was informed this when I tried to restart the computer and the warning I would kick other users out showed up. No configuration has been changed on the server, on DCs/GPOs, on the client, nor on the hypervisor. And of course I have no idea what does that graphics thing mean.
The other directory with events was on Microsoft/Windows/RemoteDesktopServices-SessionServices/Operational with a way more decent 2 events per connection attempts:
1 Error The RDP display control module failed to change the session monitor layout. The operation failed with error code 0xFFFFFFFF.
2 Information The RDP display control module successfully changed the session monitor layout. New layout has 1 monitors.
And that's all the info I have. Could you point me where to go next to get more information or how to proceed from here? I don't want to reinstall Windows, I put way too much time on these machines. :/
Thanks for your help!
I bet you think this post is about you. Don't you…don't you. ♪
