Kinda hard to describe my issue.
We have offices with both a database and print server, people from 3 different cities access it for both services.
The network has been for years, i have been at the company for just a couple of months. So, i did not activated all the printers, just a couple.
Print server is an intel xeon x3430 with windows server 2008 standard with service pack 2, 64 bits.
So the problem basically is that the spooler crashes and no one/several users cant print until the service is rebooted (on the configuration is set to autorestart if it fails, sometimes it doesnt do it).
Once restarted, most clients can print, except a few, which have a common history of being unable to print regularly since like forever. (3 Samsungs ml-2160)
One of the users is informing me that when he is printing (around 1 page every 4-5 minutes, i dont mean that the printer is slow, thats his normal rate of sending documents to print) the Terminal service gets stuck for some time after 20 or so minutes of use, the TS freeze for around 1 minute to 10 or so, it varies.. After that, the TS is back, but the printer wont appear as online, it appears as offline like a ghost printer. Unplug-plug wont do a thing.
I installed that printer personally, the native OS for the client is wxp 32 bits. i downloaded the appropriate driver from Samsung's website, then i activated the printer on the server, i added a 64 bits compatible driver as well as a x32 driver .
I noticed that the internet connection is deactivating for some reason, when i activate the service again, the troubleshooter cannot find a reason why it failed in the first place. Probably this is the cause for the problem above.
Now, moving to event viewer, i have many instances of different errors.
Error 56.- "The Terminal Server security layer detected an error in the protocol stream and has disconnected the client."
Error 1000 .- "Faulting application spoolsv.exe, version 6.0.6002.18294, time stamp 0x4c6aa29a, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 6.0.6002.18881, time stamp 0x51da3d16, exception code 0xc0000374, fault offset 0x00000000000acb17, process id 0x1cdc, application start time 0x01cf47937f66249c."
Error 1107- "The printer Epson FX-2180 (redirected 6) could not be deleted." I have many errors like these, but are from different printers, the cannon, hp, lexmark etc. Even some printers that are not even connected anymore.
And 7031: This is the most common probably "The Print Spooler service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 32 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 60000 milliseconds: Restart the service."
When the server disconnects from the internet, there is no warning nor message on Event viewer, if you press the x icon on the networking menu, the troubleshooter repair the connection, but it acts as if nothing happened, like if the connection was up since the beginning.
I already checked the "faulty hardware" side, Both network cards 100% with latest drivers, i switched the cable with another known to work, changed the switch ports etc. so its a config issue, it only dcs after one of the errors mentioned in the event viewer.
I thought it was a driver issue (i still think that), so i tried to remove every single one of them to make sure to reinstall the proper ones, one by one, but i slammed into a wall, even with admin privileges, i cannot remove the drivers, it says access denied. Even if i DC the server from the net and reboot/restart spooler, access denied every single time.
If i remove/add the printer on the client, it works as intended, but again, 2o minutes of use, and the redirected printer becomes a ghost.
I need those 2 printers working. Thanks
Alex.
