Copy/Paste in RDP is not working

$

Hello

We have Hyper V running on server 2016. That Hyper V has a win server 2008 R2 VM. Users are unable to copy/paste text to there local machine or vice versa while rdp into the server, although they can do it from other VMs. Users have win 10.

I am not sure if it was working before as I just joined in. I have tried restarting the server, checked the rdp clipboard settings on rdp client. Killed the rdpclip processes and reinitiated that. Nothing seemed to be working. What should I be checking further? Anything on Hyper V which can be creating it as its only happening to this particular VM?

Thanks alot

Problem with Windows Server 2012 R2 RDS farm

Good afternoon.

There is a terminal farm with 3 session hosts, 1 connection broker and 1 session host for browsers and various SOFTWARE (this session host lives in a separate collection).

Recently the host for browsers began to fall off periodically from a farm is session, on a host there are errors of the following type:

"Remote desktop connection broker on server one is TSGW02.local.local returned an error when notifying to disconnect the session.
Session ID: 153
Error: the RPC Server is unavailable. "

"Remote desktop services was unable to join the connection broker on server one-TSGW02.local.local.
Error: the Current asynchronous message was dropped by the asynchronous dispatcher because there is a new message that will override the current one."

"A TCP/IP error occurred while trying to establish an outgoing connection because the selected local endpoint was recently used to connect to the same remote endpoint.
This error typically occurs when an outgoing connection is opened and closed at a high frequency, causing all available local ports to be used, and TCP/IP must re-use the local port for the outgoing connection.
To reduce the risk of data corruption, TCP/IP requires that there be a minimum amount of time between serial connections from a specific starting point to a specific endpoint."

"An error occurred while processing group policy. Windows was unable to apply WMI filter on group policy object 'cn={981F11B1-2073-4F7A-8D1E-760047BAF4D8},cn=policies,cn=system,DC=local,DC=local'.
Possible causes include disabling RSOP, disabling or stopping the WMI (Windows management Instrumentation) service, and other WMI errors.
Verify that the WMI service is started and that the service is set to start automatically. New settings or GPOs cannot be processed until this situation is corrected."

"The host server for the session connect to remote desktop cannot communicate with the license server for the rd one-tsgw02.local.local.
Verify that the remote desktop licensing service is running on the license server, that the license server accepts network requests, and that the license server is registered in WINS and DNS."

Nothing was installed or changed on the session host (since its normal operation).
Antivirus installed Kaspersky, base current, finds nothing. Physical servers also have no complaints (Hyper-V cluster, tried different nodes, including datastores).
At the time when the problem occurs (in the diagnosis) turned off the antivirus, as well as the built-in firewall - to no avail.

The most interesting thing is that if you make a wmi request from the connection broker , for example get-wmiobject Win32_OperatingSystem, then the problematic host responds and gives information.
If you try to make the same request from the problematic host anywhere (to the same broker), then you receive an error that WMI is not running on the remote host, or problems in the firewall.

What could be the problem?

We are preparing to move from RDS 2012 to new RDS 2016 enviroment.

As far everything went great. I've add to one collection old 2012 rdhost. Worked, but when i try to add to collection new rdhost with 2016 datacenter version and i try to run it from iis i receive error like:

"No computers abailable in the pool"

I've searched almoust hole Internet - adding broker local policy etc. Nothing...In this 2016 RDS enviroment there are 2 brokers without HA (i will do this soon, after solve this problem).

Please help with that issue.

We are getting the below error while deploying VDIs

Troubled Remote Desktop Connection to Windows Server 2016

$

The problem I'm seeing is that I have Windows 10, Windows 7, and Mac, all with RDC clients trying to connect to a Windows Server 2016.

With any Win7-8-10, when an initial connection to the 2016 server is made, the RPC server crashes and renders the server inaccessible for about 10 minutes.

I found that, when I use the Remote Desktop Client VERSION 8  on the Mac, it works just fine.  I also have a version 10 that shows the same problem.

After 10 minutes in locked state, it seems that the RPC server comes back alive and I can connect again - and now, I am connected to the previous connection.

I am guessing nothing else anymore. I disabled Audio services, firewall is open (otherwise it would never connect), works just fine with RDC version 8 so, obviously Terminal Services is running, there are no bad files or something alike.

IT IS the version 10 of RDC that made things bad; or it is Windows 2016 that set something unexpected ? Any registry setup that could improve things ?

What are your experiences with this ?

Remote Desktop not working anymore on Windows 10 & Windows 7

Hi,

since a few days, we have issues while trying to connect from Windows 7 & 10 clients to a Windows Server 2012R2 RD Farm.

RD farm is composed of two RD session hosts + 1 RD Gateway.

Windows 10 clients are build 1809.

The clients and the servers are in different domains with one-way trust. It worked just fine until a few days ago, when clients started getting the below error message. In the TerminalServices-Gateway/Operational log file, I can find a lot of 312 and 313 events which indicate that connections are not authorized.

I have no clue what changed as compared to when the connections where working fine.

We introduced the Microsoft Remote Desktop app as a workaround, and strange enough that works, but it is not liked very much by our users cos it has some drawbacks.

Can anyone help me, or point me where to look at?

Thanks,

The issue is happening within the network and also off the network. I have tried to removed some of my

User login stuck in loop, screen flashing

Using 2016 server using Failover Cluster Manager running multiple VMs and RDS setup.

On one specific Vm for just a few of the users when they try to login the screen just keeps flashing and the login is never successful.  Only a reboot of the VM fixes the problem temporarily but then it is back the next day.

All user accounts are domain accounts.

The error log shows this -

Faulting application name: explorer.exe, version: 10.0.14393.3053, time stamp: 0x5d01d1c5
Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 10.0.14393.2969, time stamp: 0x5ccd148a

Faulting package-relative application ID:

I have done a fair bit of googling and this seems to be a fairly common issue with no obvious fix other than to rebuild the VM from scratch.

The thing is it only applies to certain user accounts on the VM not all of them and when the issue is present I can still login with the domain admin account with no problems.

So couple of questions -

1) If it is only specific user accounts that display this problem does that suggest that it is not an issue with the VM or is that a false assmumption ?

2) If it just the user accounts then what I want to do is create new accounts for these users but then I need to replicate their profile in terms of desktop settings etc.

Can someone tell me how to go about doing that ?

Any help or suggestions on the above would be much appreciated.

RDS 2016 farm - two forests with one way trust and PAM (MIM)

$

Hi, I have set up RDS 2016 farm in forest A (2 WA, 2 CB and 2 SH servers). Having done that, session host sitting in other forest B was added to the RDS farm. There are two collections, one with apps published on 2 SH servers in forest A and the other one with apps published on SH in forest B. Adding SH from forest B and collection creation/app publishing on it were done with TWO-WAY trust between forest A and forest B.

Having removed trust (forest A trusts forest B) leaving me with ONE-WAY trust I can access applications published on SH in forest B by using PAM request and proper rights were passed through. Problem is that now, with one-way trust in place, I can not publish new apps on SH in forest B neither with GUI or PowerShell.

Since this RDS farm is part of Active Directory Red Forest design (ESAE) having two-way trust between forest(s) defies purpose of whole project. Is there any solution for this or only way to publish new apps on SH in forest B is to temporarily recreate other trust direction (forest A trusts forest B) which would certainly be turned down?

Thanks in advance!

Remote Desktop Services Profile tab - User properties in Active Directory

I have a single domain controller. I am setting up profile path in Remote Desktop Services Profile tab for Vaidee(user). I have allowed vaidee to logon locally and through remote desktop services. I added him to Remote Desktop Users group. Even though he is not a domain admin, he can still login to the domain controller. When Vaidee logged in to the domain controller using Remote Desktop connection, the profile is not created in the specified location(C:\RemoteProfile\Vaidee).

Is there anything that I am missing?

RD gateway not working after windows update- your computer can't connect to the remote desktop gateway server. Contact your network administrator for assistance

I have about 200 users running mostly remoteApp from many different locations. 95% of them work fine. I do have RDGateway but it is configured to bypass the RDGateway in the setup if it can connect to the broker. Things have been working fine for the past year or so. Recently on the last set up updates for windows 10 machines, they receive the error "Your computer can't connect to the remote desktop gateway server. Contact your network administrator for assistance" as soon as they try and launch and RemoteApp application.

The fix is this.

https://appuals.com/fix-your-computer-cant-connect-to-the-remote-desktop-gateway-server/

It forces it to disable UDP and use HTTP instead. As far as I can tell nothing has changed on the network and UDP is still open and clients are able to connect to it.

Has anyone ran into this?

Windows 10 clients unable to connect to RemoteApp

Hello,

we are running a RemoteApp environment using RDS Gateway running on Windows Server 2016 Standard. Our problem is that clients running on Windows 10 are not able to connect to RemoteApp at all. After entering the credentials, the login window pops up again after 1 second (it's an endless loop).

An entry with the Server IP to our internal server name was created in the hosts file. Pinging it also works fine.

RDP Client logs show the following (unfortunately in German):

EventSentry Service memory consumption keeps on increasing

Hello Guys,

We have EventSentry on four of our hosts and for some reason the memory consumption keeps on shooting up.

It starts with 50 MB and keeps on increasing, way upto 2 gigs and we have to kill the service and restart it to bring the utilization back to normal.

Most of the EventSentry logs show below:

[2019.08.01 14:38:04] ELB:QueuePollEvents:Start: 8
[2019.08.01 14:38:04] ELB:QueuePollEvents:Handle already invalid: 2

[2019.08.01 14:38:04] ELB:QueuePollEvents:End: 8

And i don't see why its utilizing so much since couple of days.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

User Profile Disk won't work

I've got a RDS deployment that we are going to use as a failover at 2nd site. So this is a new collection and I can't get user profile disk to load. They keep giving me a temp profile.

We have 1 physical server which runs Server 2016 and the it holds the User Profile disk. It's not part of the RDS farm. On that physical server there is a 2019 DC VM, 2019 Broker VM, and a 2016 Session Host VM.

Any ideas on what to try?

HTML 5 RDS issue with ILO and ESX console

$

Hi There,

We have recently moved from Citrix XEN to MS Windows Hyper-V to provision our virtual machines to students to teach them how to work with certain hardware/software. To reach our goal we've setup 5 blades running Server 2019 Datacenter Edition with Hyper-V and an extra blade that runs our RDS environment. Since we have students remoting in from a variety of places and companies and RDP is blocked by most we opted to use the new HTML 5 webclient.

The problem we are facing is that in an HTML5 session, whenever a students accesses a ProLiant iLO through either .NET or Java the keyboard stops functioning, or should we say, the key mapping no longer makes sense. The ENTER key works but everything else is not resulting in output. If we take over our HTML5 session with RDP we can see that the input is in fact there, but it is gibberish.. in other words a W becomes a / and a ? becomes a ".In NOTEPAD or WORD or any other application the input is proper and keyboard mapping is fine. As soon as we open an iLO session or even the ESX Console the keyboard mapping is off.

We thought of raising a case with MicroSoft, however, HTML 5 webclient still being a BETA Product we figured try the forum first.

Thanks!

Dimitri.
