remoteapp cannot find computer
I can not log on automatically to the server
If the machine reboots, Outlook stop running
It seems that there are few ways to force Windows Server 2012 to automatically log on to a user:
- https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/Library/bb963905.aspx
None of those solution seem to work
What am I missing?
Thanks

RemoteFX implementation
Dears
i have a windows thin client with Windows 7 embedded Standard SP1 and would like to configure a remoteFX to a VM running Windows 7 professional .
based on this article http://blogs.msdn.com/b/obloch/archive/2011/03/09/windows-embedded-standard-7-sp1-released.aspx , the thin client is compatible for RemoteFX as well as i installed the RDP client 8.1 and configuring the group policy to enable the remotefx usb redirection .
my question is , is there a specific requirement for the VM to have , the VM is hosted on HYPER-V 2008 but Remote Desktop Environment (RD Session Host / RD Virtualization Host ) in not enabled on the hyper-v server.
i have a Microsoft PDA with Pocket PC 2002 and would like to redirect this PDA to the VM ,
any help is appreciated
RDS Hide Collection from external users
I have RD Web and RD gateway configured, used internally on the LAN, and accessible from the internet. I would like to have a different idle timeout for internal users versus external users. For example, a user connecting from the internet has a 10 minute idle timer, and a user connecting from the LAN (private IP address) would get a 2 hour idle timer. It seems the best way to have two different idle timeouts is via two different collections, but how do I hide the collection based on the client's IP? I've looked at the different policies and I'm not seeing anything that would filter the collections based on IP, rather than username/usergroup or computer name. Is there any way to accomplish this?
Thanks in advance.

RemoteApp icons on Windows 8.1 start screen automatically
Hi, I have been exporting the AppFoldersLayout.bin file on Windows 8.1 and distributing via group policy to provide a default start screen when users logon. This method doesn't seem to work for RDS 2012 RemoteApps. Has anyone found a method to automatically pin remote apps to users start screens? At present they have to go looking for them and pin them manually
Many thanks
NLA or Smartcards, but not both for non-domain joined clients
We have an environment where we use smartcards to log in to remote resources. It works just fine when we try to remote desktop from a machine that is domain joined, but does not work at our homes or on personal machines brought to work.
Things start working from home when we disable NLA though... but we would like to use NLA for an extra layer of security. OR if we leave NLA on, but only use a username and password it works (but again, we want to use smartcards for the extra layer of security with multifactor blah blah blah).
Stuff I have tried that has not worked:
Installing the internal Domain CA's certs to the off-domain machine and user cert store.
Issuing a "real" certificate from a major 3rd party CA and configuring RDS to use this certificate.
Tweaked some certificate properties, tested CRL paths off-location, anything I could find on BI-NGLE that was related... (shot-in-the-dark methods).
Any ideas out there that I have missed?
Around 450 RemoteApp Sessions limit on Windows Server 2012 R2 Remote Desktop Services Session Host without apparent bottleneck - RDS Broker scalability issue
Hi
We have an RDS farm with the following set-up (using Windows Server 2012 R2) to serve RemoteApps to our clients:
- Two RDS Gateways
- Four Session Hosts (24-physical processors and 512 GB ram each)
- User profile disks enabled
- One RDS Licensing Server
- Two RDS Broker Servers
The problem we are facing is that it seems like there's a "magic number" of about 450 connections (fluctuating between 445 and 455) per each Session Host.
Once this number is reached users start to report:
- General session slowness (slow update of Remote App window contents)
- Some users are unable to log in to their (new) session
- Some users are connecting but presented with "empty" screen
- Some users are getting (randomly?) disconnected
When the issue happens, based on performance counters, the CPU is in range of 30%, RAM has about 200 GB free.
Processor Queue length during the day is mostly within "<2 range", with ~30% of the time going higher up to 6 intermittently (not consistently), and with ~1.5% of the time being more than 10. (There's no continuous queue build-up) So our understanding that this is not a CPU/RAM limitation.
There were no limits on concurrent number of sessions set on Session Hosts as of SW side to my knowledge. Review of Application/System/RdpCoreTs Logs does not show anything really suspicious at the time the limit is hit, the errors/warnings in event logs do not correlate with timing of the problem.
We've been investigating this issue for a several weeks now and it's still absolutely unclear what could cause such limitation. Maybe someone experienced similar issues.
Any suggestions are welcome.
Simple RDP client in c#/.net
Hello,
I'm trying to write a simple rdp client. I cut rdp file to the minimum number of parameters that are necessary to run the application in our environment with "seamless" application mode. Content can be divided into two parts: the connection to the TS infrastructure and the application's startup:
rdp.Server = "connectionbroker.domain.local"; rdp.UserName = "mjakubowski"; rdp.Domain = "domain"; rdp.AdvancedSettings8.ClearTextPassword = txtPassword.Text; rdp.SecuredSettings3.StartProgram = "calc"; rdp.TransportSettings3.GatewayUsageMethod = 1; rdp.TransportSettings3.GatewayCredsSource = 0; rdp.TransportSettings3.GatewayProfileUsageMethod = 1; rdp.TransportSettings3.GatewayHostname = "gateway.domain.local"; rdp.AdvancedSettings8.LoadBalanceInfo = "tsv://MS Terminal Services Plugin.1.SOS"; rdp.Connect();
rdp.Server = "rdsh.domain.local"; rdp.UserName = "login"; rdp.Domain = "domain"; rdp.AdvancedSettings8.ClearTextPassword = txtPassword.Text; rdp.SecuredSettings3.StartProgram = "calc"; rdp.Connect();
.. and give user permission to interactive login - i have bare remote application in my rdp client's window.
My problem - how to get AxMsRdpClient8 to connect to the connection broker (treat server like a TS connection broker, rather than RDSH server - similar to "use redirection server name" in .rdp file)?
Server 2008 R2 RDP problems - Winlogon 4005 Crash - Windows video subsystem failed
I have errors on all 3 of my terminal servers. When this occurs, new users are not able to login and existing sessions can't be reconnected.
The errors I see in the log when this occurs:
Winlogon 4005
The Windows logon process has unexpectedly terminated.
I also see this one in the TerminalServices-LocalSessionManager logs:
Event ID 20
Attempt to send disconnect message to Windows video subsystem failed. The relevant status code was 0x80070102.
The server will work fine after a reboot, but this has been quite problematic for us over the past few months.
I can't really find any info on the Event ID 20 log entry so I'm hoping someone at MS will notice this thread and pass along some assistance.
All clients are Win7 SP1. We have about 20 thin clients. I noticed yesterday that they have RDP v7.1 so we're in the process of updating them to 8.1 today.
Terminal Server Session Freeze\Hangs
I have a terminal server farm(two terminal servers) running Windows 2008 R2 that are supporting load balancing. The problem lately users are experiencing a situation whereby their session will just freeze/hangs, sometimes it hangs when they are trying to print. when I check logs it doesn't show anything, terminal servers are patched up. it become better after a reboot for a short period and started again and its so frustrating.
Sometimes its got the following error "The task you are trying to do can't be completed because Remote Desktop Services is currently busy. Please try again in a few minutes"
Please Please help
Issue about enabling RemoteFX video adpater when builded a Windows 10 Enterprise VM on Windows Server 2016 Technical Preview
Hello.
I used RemoteFX on Windows 7 Enterprise VM with Windows Server 2012.
But i needed OpenGL & OpenCL support, so i upgraded to Technical Preview 2.
And set up Hyper-v with Remote desktop virtualization Host.
I selected generation 1, and browsed windows 10 enterpise iso file.
after installing, I ran windows update on VM(I heard that Hyper-V integration services were moved to Windows update), and added RemoteFX Video Adpater.
But after booting, I can't get signs whether any windows were loaded.. and also cannot connect by RDP.
I saw remotefx demonstration on microsoft blog, so RemoteFX is on technical preview. Is it right?
Remove TS CAL License
Hi all,
I have unused TS license server (TS 2003), and would like to remove CAL licenses on it.
In terminal server licensing console, i am not able to click 'deactivate' menu since it is being grayed out. How do i remove this license completely, does remove the Terminal License Role itself result the same with deactivate?
Thank you.
Can't browse \\tsclient\c or print using Easy print - Server2012R2
Hi
I am unable to browse \\tsclient\c (or any drive) or Print using EasyPrint on a specific Windows 7 workstation from an external 2012 RDP Server. Others Windows 7/8 workstations work as expected with/without admin rights.
This workstation has local domain admin rights and is joined to the local domain. The RDP server is entirely separate to this domain and has no links or associations.
I am at a loss to even find a starting point to attempt to solve this. It must be something specific to the local PC but I can't see any error log messages to help.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.
EDIT:
After writing this I thought I'd try accessing the Remote Desktop using the MMC snapin. This worked first time - printing and drive browsing.
Therefore, this leads me to the conclusion it must be something to do with mstsc.exe or a local variable that is affecting it. It is v6.3.9600.16415 dated 02/10/2013 00:31

Hyper-V VDI force logoff after certain time
Hello,
I am using Windows 2012 R2 Hyper-V with remoteFX enabaled. VDI are running on windows 7 enterprise. the problem i have is that some users when they are using VDIs thru RDWEB they do not logoff and just disconnect their session. this cause problem because we are using folder redirection and roaming profiles so if they have brought any changes it wont update with their profile on file server because the session is just disconnected. I cant find any solution or anything on GPO to force logoff the disconnected session or idle sessions.
Can someone has any idea or solution for this please?
Kind Regards,
Ahmad
Can't add user groups to Session Collection
I have recently setup a Windows Server 2012 R2 VM with Remote Desktop Services with the goal of allowing certain colleagues to access remote apps from home. I've followed install and configuration instructions via Technet and everything seems to be running as expected with one major exception. When I go to Server Manager > Remote Desktop Services > Collections > Collection > Properties > User Groups and try to add a group from the same domain that the server is joined to I get this error.
"The security identifier could not be resolved. Ensure that a two-way trust exists for the domain of the selected users.
Exception: The network path could not be found."
This is puzzling to me since the User Group I'm trying to add and the server that Remote Desktop Services is installed on are both in the same domain.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated as people are waiting on this to be able to access specific programs from home or when mobile.
Two-Factor USB Tokens and RDP Session Timeouts
Server 2012 R2 Domain with Two-Factor authentication required
Windows 7 Enterprise workstations
We are able to successfully authenticate to 2012 R2 servers via (Remote Desktop two-factor authentication via USB tokens/Smart Cards with certificates from our CA).
The issue is after the RDP session has keyboard locked, we are unable to immediately log back in to the server with the Smart card logon, unless we unplug our USB/Smart Card tokens and plug them back in to our workstations.
I am under the impression that we need to possibly make a setting change in a GPO for the servers.
Do we need to look into the setting for: AllowFreshCredentialsWhenNTLMOnly
Thanks.

ARR URL Rewrite for RD Web Access
We currently have a Reverse Proxy configured and working for remote users to access an RD Web Access farm.
They currently use https://serverurl.co.uk/rdweb to access the site but we'd like to remove the requirement for the /rdweb portion of the URL.
I've tried changing the rules on the proxy server but can't seem to get connected when trying to use justhttps://serverurl.co.uk
I though it would be as easy as matching the serverurl and then manually adding /rdweb as the path (rather than using the {R:0} but this doesn't seem to work?
Any ideas?
Cheers for now

RDC licensing across forests
I'm trying to setup a Remote Desktop server to get licensing information from another server in another forest. Both are Windows 2012R2 servers
1- Full tow way transitive trust is present and working between the forests/domains.
2- Licensing server is part of Terminal Server License Servers group in all domains.
3- RDS Host Servers is part of the Terminal Server Computers group on the RDS Licensing servers.
4- Domain admins or the Host servers are admins of the RDS Licensing server.
5- The following ports are open between both servers: UDP 137 UDP 138 TCP/135 TCP/139 TCP/445 TCP/49152-65535
I still have a “licence server …… Unavailable” error.
What I’m a missing?
Thanks.
Cannot use Remote Desktop Services Farm as a RemoteApp Source
If I specify one of the Session Hosts as the RemoteApp source then the RemoteApp Programs list will populate as expected.
Any suggestions as to what I can check would be greatly appreciated.
Edit, more information:
I should also point out that, for the purpose of testing, there is only one Session Host. This Session Host is on the same server as the Connection Broker.
The Connection Broker is called farm02.domain.com and the farm name is farm.domain.com.
The error that occurs is:
Access to the WMI interface on Remote Desktop Session Host server farm.domain.com was denied. Add the Remote App and Desktop Management computer to the TS Web Access Computers security group on farm.domain.com
Error Code: 0x80070005
This error suggests I should add the Connection Broker/Session Host computer to its own TS Web Access group, which I have already done without resolving the issue.

Nick Friday
